| We are now having opening for PhD students from a variety of backgrounds (mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemistry, biology). Candidates with cell culture, nanotechnology, or microfabrication will be highly preferred. Our lab is focusing on leveraging micro/nanotechnology for investigation of mechanobiology. We have particular interest in cell’s left-right bias, e.g. rightward biased migration, rotation, and orientation. We recently discovered that cells can generate a torque with rotational bias depending on cell types. As a leading group in such rotational mechanics, our research provides a fundamental framework in guiding cell mechanics, stem cell differentiation, and tissue regeneration.
